I read Classics at Oxford University and went on to study for an MA in The Theory and Practice of International Human Rights at the University of Essex. I worked as the Publicity Officer for Schumacher College, an International Centre for Ecological Studies based in Devon, and as a Public Relations Officer for The Countryside Agency, before returning to Wales in 2003.
On my return to Wales I combined a part-time role as the Publicity Officer for Honno
, Welsh Women’s Press/Gwasg Menywod Cymru (2005-2007), with developing my freelance career as a writer, editor and proofreader. I have written numerous articles, essays and book reviews (mainly on nature, travel, the visual arts and social, economic and cultural history), which have been published in New Welsh Review, The Great Outdoors, BBC History, BBC Countryfile, Resurgence & Ecologist, LandScape
(Welsh Books Council/Cyngor Llyfrau Cymru), Gomer Press/Gwasg Gomer (essay in On this Mountain
, 2008), and The Rough Guide to Accessible Britain
In 2008 I edited In Her Element
, an anthology of women writing on the Welsh landscape, published by Honno, launched at the Hay Festival and serialised on Radio 4. See In Her Element
for more information.
